Newark FFA Chapter Recognized as Second High FFA Fundraisers in State

The Newark FFA Chapter received the $8,000 Club Award during the 84th Annual Illinois FFA Convention, held June 12-14, at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

The $8,000 Club Award recognizes chapters who have collected $8,000 to $8,999 during the annual Foundation Collection Drive. Out of 300 chapters in the State of Illinois, Newark FFA was the only chapter to attain the $8,000 Club and only one other chapter collected more than the $8,295 credited to the Newark FFA Chapter in the statewide FFA Foundation drive.

The Foundation, which was started in 1947 to provide financial support to the FFA, relies on each local FFA chapter throughout the state to organize and conduct a local collection drive. This year the Foundation celebrated its 64th year of support to the FFA. A total amount of $472.072.67 was collected by all chapters. The 2011 State Sponsoring Committee Chairperson, Ron Reische of Sherman, presented the $8,000 Club Award to the Newark FFA Chapter for their support of the Illinois Foundation FFA.
