Newark FFA Chapter Earns Gold Emblem Designation

The Newark FFA Chapter was recognized with the National Chapter Gold Emblem Award on June 10 at the annual Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

The National Chapter Gold Emblem Award celebrates the top FFA Chapters in the country for their outstanding Program of Activities in the past year. The Gold Emblem is the highest rank a chapter can receive in the state.

More than 3,500 FFA members, advisors, parents, and guests participated in the 82nd Illinois FFA State Convention. There are 17,400 members in 301 different FFA chapters in the State of Illinois. The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization preparing students for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.

Newark FFA Receives Section Community Development Award


The Newark FFA Chapter was recognized as the Section Winner of the Community Development Award on June 9 at the Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is being held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

The Illinois Association FFA recognizes the chapter with the best Community Development Program in each of the association's 25 sections. Community development - along with student development and chapter development - make up the chapter's Program of Activities. The Community Development Awards are sponsored by Alliance Pipeline, Inc.

Newark FFA Receives Cooperative Activities Award


The Newark FFA Chapter was recognized as the Section 7 Winner of the Cooperative Activities Award Program on June 9 at the Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is being held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

The Cooperative Activities Award Program is designed to increase FFA members' understanding of the cooperative way of doing business. Members representing the winning FFA chapters will participate in the Cooperative Activities Tour in July. The tour provides FFA members the opportunity to gain firsthand insights with cooperatives and the leaders of agricultural cooperatives.

The Cooperative Activities program is sponsored are by the Illinois Farm Bureau, GROWMARK, COUNTRY Insurance and Financial Services, Prairie Farms Dairy, and IAA Credit Union. Jane Castellano, of GROWMARK, and Lauren Jaeger, of Prairie Farms, presented the awards.

The Newark FFA Chapter was recognized as the Section 7 Winner of the American Heritage Award Program on June 9 at the Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is being held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

As sponsors of the Heritage Award, the Illinois Farm Bureau and affiliated companies recognize chapters with programs that promote citizenship in the chapter, school, and community. Members representing the winning FFA chapters participate in a tour of historical sites in and around the Washington D.C. area, including Arlington National Cemetery.

The award and trip are sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau, GROWMARK, COUNTRY Insurance and Financial Services, Prairie Farms Dairy, and IAA Credit Union. Jane Castellano, of GROWMARK, and Lauren Jaeger, of Prairie Farms, presented the awards.

Rehberg Earns Top Ten Chapter President’s Award


Logan Rehberg, a member of the Newark FFA Chapter, was recognized as a Top Ten Chapter President in the State of Illinois on June 9 at the Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is being held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

The Top Ten Chapter President’s award recognizes the outstanding performance of these elite local chapter presidents in the past year and is sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau and GROWMARK.
