Newark FFA Receives Section Heritage Award

The Newark FFA Chapter was recognized as the Section 7 Winner of the American Heritage Award Program on June 9 at the Illinois FFA Convention. The convention is being held June 8-10 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield.

As sponsors of the Heritage Award, the Illinois Farm Bureau and affiliated companies recognize chapters with programs that promote citizenship in the chapter, school, and community. Members representing the winning FFA chapters participate in a tour of historical sites in and around the Washington D.C. area, including Arlington National Cemetery.

The award and trip are sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau, GROWMARK, COUNTRY Insurance and Financial Services, Prairie Farms Dairy, and IAA Credit Union. Jane Castellano, of GROWMARK, and Lauren Jaeger, of Prairie Farms, presented the awards.

More than 3,500 FFA members, advisors, parents, and guests will participate in the 82nd Illinois Association FFA Convention. There are 17,400 members in 301 different FFA chapters in the State of Illinois. The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization preparing students for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.
