Farm Bureau Acquaintance Day
On January 24th the Newark FFA Chapter along with Seneca, Minooka, Oswego and Oswego East FFA Chapters were invited to the Kendall and Grundy County Farm Bureau Acquaintance Day. The group toured Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks, Indiana. One of the largest dairy farms in the United States. Members saw a 3D/4D movie, went through the interactive center and toured a birthing barn, free stall barn and milking parlor. The farm will be milking 39,000 cows 3 times a day by the end of summer.
AG in America Tour comes to NCHS
On February 7th Newark Agrciulture Education Department hosted the Ag in America Tour to speak to students about careers in Agriculture.
To educate students and consumers about the important role agriculture plays in America’s economy and society, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) sponsors the Ag in America Tour. This educational tour visits schools, fairs and community events to tell the story of American agriculture. At schools, multimedia and interactive exercises developed in partnership with the USDA “Ag in the Classroom” program educate students about the importance of agriculture and the variety of careers in the industry. At community events like local festivals and state and county fairs, the Ag in America Tour uses displays and videos to educate consumers about the many steps between the farmer’s field and the grocery shelf. Visit www.admworld.com for more information.
